USDA Launches Website to Centralize New World Screwworm Information

New federal portal centralizes information and updates on efforts to protect livestock and public health

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) has recently introduced a new federal website to centralize all national information related to the New World Screwworm and support a coordinated response across multiple agencies. The site brings together resources for livestock producers, veterinarians, wildlife specialists, researchers, health professionals, pet owners, and the public.

“To ensure timely and effective communications, this new unified website will be a one stop shop for all screwworm related information and will help our stakeholders be better informed as new information comes available,” said Secretary Brooke Rollins. “We are grateful for the robust interagency collaboration, and we continue to work every day with our state and industry partners to implement our screwworm plan. This is a national security priority and it has the full attention of our team.”

The new website offers current data, guidance for preventing spread, updates on federal activities, and information for travelers, animal owners, and industry stakeholders. USDA officials say the platform reflects a five-part plan to monitor the pest, track cases in Mexico, and support U.S. preparedness efforts.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For Secretary Rollins and the interagency teams working to coordinate surveillance, communication, and response planning for their collaboration to strengthen national readiness.
  • For USDA officials as they provide resources to livestock producers, veterinarians, and wildlife officials to protect animals and communities from potential outbreaks.
  • For U.S. scientists and public-health professionals involved in monitoring, research, and prevention efforts.
